This breeding line comes directly from Tokyo Orchid Nursery, arguably the best breeder of rothschildianums in the world at the moment. This line is looking for large and dark flowers. Imposing when mature, Paphiopedilum rothschildianum is possibly the most line-bred and most valuable slipper orchid species. The sometimes foot-wide flowers stand on tall flower spikes, but variability is huge among just the species itself in flower shape and color. Because of this, collectors seek pedigreed plants from reputable sources, which is hard to do nowadays due to a middleman mislabeling the breeding stock of one of the largest Paph growers in the US. The seedlings listed here should result true to parentage since they come from a separate source. I can’t keep all of them so I have to let go of some.
