Sphyrospermum dissimile 'Jay's Red'

First picture is of likely the same clone from a different grower showing plant habit. Last few images are of samples of the plants available. These are rooted from cuttings, recently potted up into 2” pots from plugs, and ready to go. Each quantity represents ONE plant.

This is a very rare neotropical blueberry species that I have almost never seen in other’s collections. This dark red clone comes from the collection of Jay Vannini, putting out flushes of red lantern-like flowers once every couple of months on a bushy plant with bronze new emergent foliage. When well-cared for, it is probably the showiest of all the sphyropsermums. Although it is relatively easy to care for, this one does want more moisture than its relatives, as it doesn’t tolerate fully drying out. Otherwise, same care as its relatives like buxifolium.
